College Counseling

Oh, the Places They Are Going!
students benefit from personalized college counseling starting in Grade 9.
The College Counseling Program at LSA is a comprehensive and structured advising program that aims to provide students and their parents with up-to-date information, supportive counseling, and applicable resources.
The college admissions process is a partnership venture that brings students, parents, and the counselors together for the support and encouragement of each student. Throughout the process, the overriding goal of the college counseling office is to help individual students look within themselves to understand who they are beyond the classroom and help them find the "right fit" for an appropriate post-high school experience.
Our program includes the following:
- LSA’s counselors host college advisor visits throughout the school year and an annual college fair.
- Every student is introduced to Scoir, a network connecting students, supporters, high schools, and colleges to expand college and career access and improve student outcomes. LSA students also utilize YouScience, an innovative aptitude & career discovery tool. Our partner, Revolution Prep, provides free college testing tools and practice tests.
- Families are provided current updates from colleges regarding admission, financial aid, the application process, and testing.
-
LSA regularly hosts college admissions representatives who meet with interested students in our front office conference room. Meetings are usually scheduled during homeroom. Students sign up to meet with reps on Scoir. If you are signed up, you will receive a pass from your counselor to be dismissed from class a few minutes early.
By graduation, our students are equipped to succeed not only in college, but in whatever post-high school opportunities they pursue. We have graduates who go into public ministry serving around the world. Other graduates go into the business world, creating their own companies, or serving as doctors, lawyers, businessmen and women, and first responders, who serve their communities both in vocation and in their churches. Some of our graduates receive appointments to military academies, and are still in active duty today, serving as officers.
