Legal Studies Academy

Lutheran South Academy’s Legal Studies Academy prepares students for a future in law, advocacy, and diplomacy. Taught by attorneys, the courses and extracurricular activities build the knowledge and skills required to excel in applicable colleges' majors and pre-law programs. The specialty courses, packaged with other experiences and internships, are meant to highlight students during the college admissions process. Students who complete the program requirements will be recognized on their transcript and at graduation.

To complete the Legal Studies Academy, students must not only excel academically in a number of required courses, but also complete, at minimum, three seasons of Mock Trial or Lincoln Douglas competitions on the school’s teams. Students must also complete an applicable 50-Hour internship, usually in the summer between their Junior and Senior year, before receiving the prestigious Legal Studies Academy Certification.

This rigorous program signals to colleges and universities that the student demonstrates the ability and passion to pursue a career in law. The knowledge, skills, and determination gained, fosters competencies applicable to many different majors and careers.
