On Thursday, October 6, 2016, eight LSA seniors attended the 40th Anniversary of the Free Enterprise Institute. These students were accompanied by LEAH Executive Director Gregg Pinick, LSA HS Principal Steve Garrabrant, and LSA teacher Archie Buchman. The Free Enterprise Institute publishes The Imaginative Conservative. The seniors were given a good breakfast, but most of all were exposed to two excellent speakers and surrounded by a community of Houston leaders that embrace the importance of faith and community. The Houston Texans owner, Bob McNair, gave a real confession of this belief in patriotism and liberty, balanced by his dependence on his enduring faith in God. The Imaginative Conservative co-founder Brad Birzer delivered the keynote address, and Senior Contributor Eva Brann was also honored. Eva T.H. Brann is a former dean and the longest-serving tutor at St. John's College, Annapolis. She is a 2005 recipient of the National Humanities Medal. The eight seniors that attended were left to right:
Rachel Bivens, Francesca Bertini, Tara Ruth, Shelby Oliphant, Kelsey Roebelen, Dylan Wood, Carson Fechter, and Brian Pierce.
