Dear LSA Family -
Work Day 3 was a success and the dehumidifiers and fans are in place. Let the drying begin!
I know I keep saying this, but I am so humbled and grateful for the overwhelming response and support that you have shown to our school over the last three days. In times of need, family shows up! I am proud to say that the LSA family showed up in a BIG WAY! Well done Pioneers!
We have also been blessed by volunteer support from the community and other schools including: St. Mark Lutheran, Lutheran High North, Westlake Prep, Living Stones Christian Academy, Second Baptist School, Fort Bend Christian Academy, Concordia Tomball High School, Clear Lake High School and Pearland High School. We had over 1000 volunteers in a 3 day span - that is nothing short of a miracle! It has been estimated that through our volunteers, we have cut WEEKS off of our recovery time.
I also want to mention the incredible support through supply and food donations from both individuals and organizations such as Barbecue Relief, the Tilted Kilt, HEB in Pearland, and Reliant. Carload after carload of supplies arrived each day which blessed our volunteers in unimaginable ways. I know that I have missed some people and organizations and I apologize for that in advance. I'm working on little sleep right now so I am asking for your forgiveness.
I am sure you are wondering what comes next. For starters, we actually need everyone to stay away from campus for 3 days. It seems funny to say that after we have been pleading for volunteers to show up and help. The drying process is taking place and we need to stay out of the buildings. If you have tools at school that you were not able to pick up today, you will receive another email later in the week with pickup times.
Thank you for your patience as we have been working to determine a plan that will allow us to resume school. Trust me, we are as anxious to get started as you are. What I know today is that we will NOT be having school on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and Wednesday, Sept. 6. Even through the clean-up, the administration has been working on an education plan that will allow us to get started as soon as possible. We are very close to having the plan in place. There are still a couple of moving parts that need to be finalized. I anticipate being able to share the education plan as well as a plan for extracurricular activities with you by Monday.
Thank you again for everything. I am so proud to be a Pioneer!
